In this episode, I talk about how to make sure that your environment and the things you see, hear, notice and people you spend time with each and every day are all set up so that they will 'trigger' your brain to consider the recovery option in each moment (as far as possible!).

On a biological / physiological level, fear and excitement are the exact same response and it is just our interpretation of what is happening in our body that makes one of them fear and one excitement.
Therefore, in eating disorder recovery, it can be possible to use the physiological state your body is in when you are afraid and change it into excitement instead...

In eating disorder recovery, many people experience urges to eat high quantities of food in a binge or feast eating style and then describe this as having 'lost control' of their eating.
In this episode I argue that this is not losing control when people 'binge' in eating disorder recovery and why this is gaining control of recovery!

Here it is - a few tools to help you learn to rest and relax in recovery.
You will also find a written version of this on my website.

In eating disorder recovery, it is really important to develop skills in rest and relaxation... because when you have an eating disorder, the ability to rest and to relax will very likely not come naturally to you.

In this episode, I go back to some more neuroscience about two different brain regions, one of which controls our 'rational' selves and the other our 'emotional' reactions (the pre-frontal cortex and limbic system). I then explain the tug of war that is often at play between these brain parts in eating disorder recovery and why understanding this matters.

So many people face feelings of greed and wrong doing in eating disorder recovery which are so intense that it holds them back from all the food they should be eating and want to eat!
In this episode I discuss the concept of greed and whether it is an appropriate emotion in eating disorder recovery.
